LEARNING FROM HOME
Social Distancing
· Social distancing, combined with good personal hygiene is an effective way to slow the spread of viruses such as COVID-19.
· Social distancing helps protect the most vulnerable members of the community and reduces the impact on life-saving health services.
· Changes to how people interact have been introduced nation-wide to support social distancing practises. This includes:
- Keeping 1.5m between yourself and others
- Avoiding crowds and gatherings
· Bega High School recognises the importance of protecting our community and has implemented strict social distancing practices.
Learning at home
· Bega High School respects that each family will make the best decision regarding how they keep themselves and others within our community safe.
· We recognise that a decision to keep your child at home brings a range of challenges, including how we work together to support learning.
· The Department of Education has developed materials to support parents and schools to support student learning at home. These can be accessed using the link below:
· Bega High School staff are working with the Department of Education to ensure students have access to learning. The preferred mode of learning is through online platforms, however printed materials are also available.
· Students and parents will be notified via sms and email regarding how they can access learning specific to their child’s needs.
Supporting students to succeed during a time of uncertainty.
· This is a new way of working for everyone – students, staff and parents. We will continue to work together to support students.
· How we work together will initially have lots of changes. This will then settle into a more familiar routine as we all become more familiar with this new way of working together.
· Students working towards their RoSA and HSC can be reassured that we are working closely with NESA to ensure that our students are not disadvantaged by this unexpected and significant disruption to learning.
· Learning new things is difficult when we are unsettled. This is the same for young people. Be kind to yourself – find a routine that works for your family.
